Jürgen Müller, Chairman of the Works Council of the RAFI Group in Berg and co-initiator of the campaign for the 2024 European Football Championship in Germany, sums up the project as follows: “Our aim was to start a community campaign in the company and donate the proceeds to a local social institution.” Lothar Arnold, CFO of the RAFI Group, adds: “As part of society, we feel obliged to contribute to the improvement of our community. This responsibility is often taken on by people who volunteer their time. It was therefore very much in our interest to support a local institution that is also supported by volunteers.”
So the choice fell on the Brennessel association, with its advice center in Ravensburg, which has set itself the task of offering quick and unbureaucratic help and advice for sexually abused children and young people, as well as for relatives and contact persons of those affected. Without the valuable work of the association, many victims would be left to deal with their traumatic experiences on their own. For Cora Bures, who started her work at Brennessel in Ravensburg in 2006 and has been managing the counseling center since 2019, every donation helps to consistently continue the work of the association. “This donation is an important contribution to this very challenging work in intervention and prevention. Five specialists share 2.5 positions – and these positions have to be financed,” says Bures.
RAFI everyday heroes support local volunteering
The RAFI Group has a history of encouraging volunteering among its employees under the motto “RAFI Heroes – Volunteering in the Spotlight”. Last year, five particularly impressive volunteering projects were selected from a variety of inspiring projects and supported with a total of 15,500 euros.
