RACON 12 S tactile switches
RAFI has optimized the sealing system of its RACON 12 tactile switch series for glob-top applications. This means the switches can now be used on PCBs that require encapsulation, lacquering, or nanocoating to protect them against condensation, contamination, and other media.
The RACON 12 S (sealed) key switches achieve IP54 and IPx7 degrees of protection due to an additional sealing lip on the inner sealing caps as well as a modified internal geometry of the housings.
Because of their high switching reliability, tightly sealed contact system, and clearly perceptible switching feedback, the tactile switches from the RACON 12 and RACON 8 series have become established as practically the standard in many industries. This includes automotive applications as well as all applications where membrane keyboards or key cap systems are used.
The series have compact dimensions of 12 x 12 mm and 8.4 x 8.4 mm. They are available in both SMT and THT versions as well as for various operating forces. All types are designed for rated powers of max. 1 W and operating temperatures of -40 °C to +90 °C.
For applications underneath membranes, RAFI offers round or square plungers in twelve lengths, from 1.4 mm to 7.6 mm. For reliable sealing of individual key switches in open keypad areas, the manufacturer recommends its RK90 II key cap system.
